The Problem

The new Social welfare office opened in Portlaoise, the building was fronted with 4 large windows that allowed passers by to see right in to the offices.

The Effect

People using the Social Welfare Office wanted to protect their privacy and felt uncomfortable that passers by could see and identify people who needed to collect their benefits every week.

On the other hand the people setting up the office while understanding the need for privacy did not want to block too much light and wanted to use the windows to name the building so people would know where they were going.

The Solution

We recommended a grey frosted film which allows light in but is impossible to see through even with lights on inside. The texture of the film allowed us etch the Social Welfare logo so the logo could appear on the window to identify the offices.
